About Us
MyMOTStatus.co.uk was built for one simple reason. Vehicle safety and ownership checks should be fast, clear, and accessible to everyone. Not hidden behind complicated steps, confusing pages, or unnecessary costs.
We help drivers, buyers, sellers, and fleet users check key vehicle details in seconds. Our platform focuses on practical answers that matter on the road and in real purchase decisions.

Meet the Founder

My MOT Status was founded by Julia, a DVSA-approved MOT tester with 12 years’ experience running her own garages in the UK.
Before building this site, Julia spent over a decade on the other side of the counter — testing vehicles, explaining advisories to worried customers, and watching the same few things trip drivers up again and again: not knowing their MOT was about to expire, not understanding what an advisory actually meant, or turning up for a test with a fault that a five-minute check beforehand would have caught.
My MOT Status started as a way to put that same information in front of drivers before they need a garage, not after — a free way to check a vehicle’s MOT and tax status, and clear, tester-written guidance on what actually gets checked and why. Julia still writes and reviews the site’s MOT content herself, drawing on what she sees on the ramp, not just what’s written in the official guidance.
We designed My MOT Status around how people actually search for MOT information.
Most users want three things right away:
So we built a tool-first experience and supported it with helpful guidance. The goal is simple. Reduce confusion and help people act with confidence.
My MOT Status provides instant access to:
This helps with:
Premium-level clarity, free access
We provide a high-value checking experience at no cost. Our aim is to make essential vehicle information easy to access without subscriptions, unnecessary upsells, or complicated account requirements.
Built for real decisions
We do not just show you a status label. We help you understand what the results can imply, especially for used cars. That includes:
- Advisory patterns
- Mileage trends
- Recent fail-to-pass timelines
- Common risk areas
A support-first mindset
Many information tools stop at the result screen. We go further with explanation, guidance, and human support.
My MOT Status is useful for:
We are building a trusted, practical vehicle information service that helps improve safety and buyer transparency across the UK market.
Our focus is:
We take user questions seriously because small misunderstandings around MOT status or advisories can lead to costly choices.
Our support model is simple:
Whether you are checking your own car or validating a used vehicle purchase, we aim to provide clear, readable answers.
Our Data and Accuracy Commitment
We use official UK Government vehicle data sources and access information through official APIs where available to provide reliable MOT and tax-related results. Our focus is to present that information in a clean layout that is easy to understand for everyday drivers.
We are committed to responsible, accurate reporting. If something looks unclear or inconsistent, our technical team reviews reports and works to resolve issues quickly.
A Note on Responsible Use
My MOT Status provides fast, registration-based lookups to support decisions. For legal and official confirmation where required, users should always rely on the relevant official records and test documentation.
